Juilliard-trained violist and Early Childhood Music Specialist Jessica Meyer will bring out the natural musical instincts your children have while teaching them the basics of musical
composition. Whether by humming a tune, drawing melodic shapes, or clapping rhythms, students will make compositional choices that will bring their favorite storybook to life. The residency culminates in a performance where students narrate the story and perform their composition with Piaclava on percussion instruments. Residencies can be as short as a few visits after school, to as long as a school year during class time. Books have included “Big Al,” “Koala Lou,” “Little House,” and “Where the Wild Things Are.”
